Tasting notes & provenance
Our current decaf comes from Brazil — washed-processed Arabica renowned for a clean cup with stone-fruit sweetness.
- Tasting notes: ripe plum, milk chocolate, orange blossom and a delicate citrus finish.
- Body: medium, Acidity: bright and lively.
How we preserve flavour
The Swiss Water Process uses pure water, temperature and time to remove caffeine — no solvents, no unnecessary flavour stripping. We source green beans with strong acidity and sugar content so the decaf retains origin character after processing. Our careful omni-roast highlights sweetness and floral notes while keeping body and clarity.

Brewing guidance
- Espresso (fine grind): 18–20g dose, 25–30s extraction for a 40–50ml shot. Expect syrupy crema and bright citric lift.
- Aeropress (medium grind): 15g coffee, 200ml water at 92–94°C, 1–2 minute brew for a clean, concentrated cup.
- V60/filter (coarse): 15–18g coffee, 250–300ml water at 94°C, 2:30–3:00 minute total brew time for layered sweetness.
- Tip: Because decaf can extract differently, start slightly finer than your regular profile and adjust to taste.

REGULARLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Frequently Asked Questions
Is decaf coffee completely caffeine-free?
No. Decaf typically contains 2–15mg of caffeine per 250ml cup. Our Swiss Water decaf averages under 10mg per cup, depending on brew method.
How is BEANN decaf made?
We use the Swiss Water Process: 100% water-based decaffeination that removes caffeine without chemical solvents, preserving origin flavours.
Does decaf coffee taste different from regular coffee?
Decaf should retain much of the flavour profile, though body and some volatile aromatics can be reduced. We choose high-quality green beans and omni-roast to maintain complexity and brightness.
Can I use BEANN decaf for espresso and filter?
Yes. Our beans are omni-roasted and available in grind sizes optimised for espresso (fine), Aeropress (medium) and filter (coarse).
Are your decaf beans sustainably sourced?
Yes. We prioritise direct trade, pay fair prices to producers, and work with certified mills. Packaging is recyclable and our UK deliveries are carbon-neutral.
Can I make cold brew with decaf?
Absolutely. Cold brew is an excellent way to extract smooth sweetness. Use a coarser grind and a 12–18 hour steep for best results.
